Edward J. McCarthy 

                               August 3, 1936 -                                   March 5, 2020                             



                            Danvers - Edward J. McCarthy, 84, died  Thursday morning, March 5, 2020 at his home in Danvers surrounded by his  family. He was the loving husband of Esther (Fletcher) McCarthy, with  whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in Andover on August 3, 1935, he was the son of the late John and  Mary (Bell) McCarthy.  He was raised and educated in Andover and was a  graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence. He served  honorably in the U.S. Army.
Ed spent his entire career with General Electric, working in Lynn with the Aviation Division.
In retirement, Ed became a fixture at the G.E. Fitness Center. He was an  accomplished watercolor artist, an active member of the Danvers Art  Association, and loved Polka dancing.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughters, Maureen McCarthy and  her husband Paul Andrews of Methuen, Janet McCarthy of San Antonio, and  Ann Marie Healy and her husband Thomas of Clifton Park, NY, three  grandchildren, Mikala Bordain and her husband Randall, Jack Healy, and  Kate Healy, a great-granddaughter, Robyn; his sister, Joan Morrison of  Bristol, NH, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Carol McCarthy.

Albert B. Cassola 

                               May 2, 1935 -                                   March 1, 2020                             


                            Beverly - Albert B. Cassola, age 84, died  March 1, 2020, unexpectedly at home. He was the husband of the late  Patricia A. (Gillies) Cassola. Born and raised in Beverly to the late  Lawrence J. and Eleanor C. (Noyes) Cassola.
 

An honorably discharged veteran, he served as a Corporal in the 1st  Division of the United States Marine Corps during the Korea Conflict.
 

Most recently, he was the Treasurer of the Vittori Rocci Post in Beverly  and enjoyed a successful career as Quality Control Manager at Axcelis,  Lemco, and Arwood Machine. He enjoyed his sons, his grandchildren,  golfing, being a Korean War veteran and the history of Beverly. He spent  much of his youth on the waterfront and loved the ocean. He had a  beautiful singing voice and sang with the Beverly Men's Singing Club for  years. But more than anything, he adored his wife of 56 years,  Patricia, who passed away in 2015.  
 

He is survived by two sons, William Cassola, Phillip Cassola and his  wife Janice; a daughter, Kim E. Woods and her husband Gregory; and  grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew and Benjamin Cassola, Nicholas and  Katherine Woods.  
 


Mary Ellen Mullins

DANVERS – Mrs. Mary Ellen (Whearty) Mullins 89, beloved wife of the late John G. Mullins who passed away in 1994, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Frank S. and Mary L. (O'Meara) Whearty. She was a graduate of Salem High School and Framingham State University, Class of 1950. She furthered education at Simmons College.

A teacher for many years, she taught for many years at Masconomet High School and she retired from the City of Salem School System.

Mary Ellen is survived by two nephews, Mark Garland of Lynn and Matthew Garland and his wife Cathy of Peterborough, N.H., three dear nieces, Jill Montanile of Lynnfield, Carol Gill of Wakefield and Sandra Dooley of Groveland, and two nephews, Nathaniel T. Mullins and John Mullins. She is also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews. Mary Ellen also leaves behind many loving neighbors and friends which she considered her family. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Garland, and a brother-in-law Nathaniel Mullins.
